About my challenge/ Conoce mi reto

Mas abajo tenéis la versión en español.

It is been a long time since I wanted to do the Way of St James (el Camino) beginning in France & finishing in Santiago de Compostela and covering almost 900 kilometres along northern Spain. However I never found the right moment to do it, or it was maybe that I did not find a proper motivation.

Last year my aunt was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Her life and her dedication to her family and friends has always been a source of inspiration for me so I have decided to mirror her bravery and courage by cycling solo the St. James Way (the Camino) in winter time to increase the difficulty.

During 10 days I will be cycling off-road and unaccompanied 900 kilometres across northern Spain beginning in France, crossing the Pyrenees and finishing in Finisterre after getting to Santiago de Compostela. I expect a tough Camino but not as hard as the one my aunty is going through.

The challenge is more than just a matter of physical exertion. It is about closely supporting those fighting the disease and making a difference in the future.

I have been training very hard this winter because in northern Spain everything is possible but a path of roses. Low temperatures, wind, snow and rain will be surely my Camino mates. With your support every kilometre I cycle will be more bearable!!
My goal is to raise at least £2000 to help fight cancer.

Please do visit my JustGiving webpage www.justgiving.com/FRANCISCOMENDI2006 where you will find all the procedures to donate.

I’ll use this blog to share with you this experience and my feelings along what I think will change my live forever.

A huge thank for all your support!

Vuestras aportaciones irán directamente a UK Cancer Research.

Mendi
